Information about the Municipal Election – Changes to the Ward 1 Office
The City of Calgary is approaching their next municipal election. There will be some changes that will occur on Nomination Day, September 18 until Election Day, October 16. Councillor Sutherland’s City website will be updated until Nomination Day, September 18, 2017, and then it must be locked down.
Newsletter articles sent to community newsletters can continue if the information is needed by constituents. Newspaper content must speak about what is happening in the community and not what the Councillor has done in the community. Mass emailing is allowed with Ward issues only if the messaging is of benefit to the constituent.
2017 Election Ward Boundary Changes
In October, Calgarians will vote to elect their Mayor, Councillors and School Board Trustees. During the 2017 Municipal Election, new ward boundaries will come into effect, which could change who the candidates are on your ballot and your voting station location. On October 16, 2017 Ward 1 will include Royal Oak. The communities of Montgomery, University Heights and University of Calgary will move to Ward 7.
