This year was a rare year in which St. Patrick’s Day fell on a Saturday. Of course, like most places, the WCA threw a dinner and dance to celebrate. The music, provided by DJ Glenn Mitchell, was great and a good time was had by all. A week later the Easter Bunny visited the hall and scattered plastic Easter eggs throughout the area. Kids spent a few hours finding eggs and redeeming them for chocolate before rounding out the afternoon playing games and completing crafts. Like the St. Patrick’s Day event, “A good time was had by all!”
Last month, I reported there is an initiative underway to replace the old Spider Park. The city will contribute some of the required funds, but fundraising is required for the remaining shortfall. A fundraising coordinator is also required for things to move forward as planned. Anyone interested in either coordinating the Spider Park fundraising initiative or to partake in this campaign is asked to contact the WCA office.
Since asking for new event ideas and people to assist with events, many people have contacted the office and have become involved – thank you! Event ideas have also been submitted including a Comedy Cave featuring talent from around the city, a concert series featuring local musicians, and a lobster feast, to name but a few. Many of the suggestions were made by people who are willing to get involved and coordinate the event. This is great and is exactly the type of suggestions, feedback, and involvement our community needs. All suggestions are discussed and explored so please keep them coming.
