March has arrived at St. Gerard French Immersion School with great fan-fare as the Easter holiday is near. On Holy Thursday, the school will celebrate a full day of classes with liturgy at 10:30am before closing its doors on Good Friday, March 30, only to re-open again to students on Monday, April 9.
February was met with a day of Carnaval festivities on February 7, during which students rotated through a series of activities and arts and crafts led by different teachers and parent volunteers in different rooms throughout the school in celebration of French-Canadian culture, including Cabane a Sucre (toffee on snow). This day was proceeded by an afternoon of song and dance on February 1 compliments of the gifted and talented duo Folklofolie, Un spectacle divertissant et interactif!
St. Gerard’s Annual Shrove Tuesday breakfast was held on the morning of February 13th. Thank you to the Knights of Columbus for providing us with cooked pancakes and sausages!
We are currently in the throes of preparing for the upcoming reporting period and Parent/Teacher Interviews. Progress reports will be sent home on Friday, March 16th. Parent/Teacher Interviews will be held in the evening of March 21 and all day on March 22. School is closed for students on Friday, March 23 in observance of a Teacher Professional Development day.
Our next School Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 20 at 9am.
