March at Sir James Lougheed School

Greetings from the All Boys Program at Sir James Lougheed School. We want to take the opportunity to thank the community for their interest in the All Boys. In January the Principal, Terry Baustad was able to attend the monthly association meeting and answer questions about the school. It was a great opportunity to inform and share what is happening at All Boys. It was also great to hear about what is happening in the community. One perspective worth highlighting is how important the school feels within the community and how we can have boys from all over Calgary connect to this community. We know that Calgary is a wonderful city made up of many great smaller communities and we want the boys to feel like they are a part of Rutland Park Community. In saying that, we have several boys that are part of our “SnowAngels” and we are cleaning sidewalks as requested by residents. This program is ongoing for the month of March. If you would like to sign up, please contact Talena Klypak at 1-403-464-7732. This is a great way to reinforce the values we are trying to reinforce at All Boys – “Care for Others”. The boys used the skating rink in February as we do a skating program within our Physical Education Program and we want to thank the community for that support.

We have several events that we want to open up to the residents of the community, as we feel this is another way for us to connect with you. We have a book fair that will be happening during our student lead conferences and we would like to invite you to attend to see if there are some books you may want to purchase. This event will take place in the school Learning Commons on Wednesday, March 21 starting at 5:00pm. This is a free event to attend.

We also would like to invite you to our Knights of the Round Table Carnival. Ticket information will be posted in April’s issue of the Post. Some fun activities at the carnival include bouncy houses, games, petting zoo, nerf war, Spartan race, prizes, food trucks and so much more. We are currently looking for donations to add to our silent auction themed baskets. If you have anything you would like to generously donate or if you are a local business and would be interested in sponsoring one of our craft tables please contact Holly Hassman (Parent Council Chair) at

We look forward to continuing our relationship with our community and meeting more of its members.
