March at Dr. E. W. Coffin School

By Larysa Hart & Maureen Saunders

Dr. Coffin School hosted its 8th Annual School Science Fair in February. Beginning in early November, Grade 5 and 6 students had the opportunity to participate in the exciting weekly Science Fair Club. Working in pairs, students chose questions to explore, created experiments, and used their skills to test their hypotheses. On the day of the Science Fair, 17 projects decorated the gymnasium with unique tri-folds showcasing the students’ hard work and dedication to Science. Eight scientists from the University of Calgary, the Foothills Hospital, and downtown Calgary businesses were judges. From these incredible projects, four will go on to represent Dr. Coffin School at the Calgary Youth Science Fair on April 13th. Aynsley, a two-time science fair participant, wants Bugle readers to know that, “Science Fair is a great place to learn the scientific method and have fun with your classmates.”
