Spring is finally on its way! Students of Richmond School managed to cartwheel and splash their way through the final dregs of winter, enjoying a week of gymnastics followed by a week of swimming lessons at Killarney Pool (for the younger grades).
Grades 3 and 4 students were treated to an exceptional day at the National Music Centre, where they mastered the “Theremin” (Wikipedia: The theremin is an electronic musical instrument controlled without physical contact by the performer), and showed off their vocal ranges in studio. The highlight for students, who have been studying sound, was a live demonstration of the Centre’s Kimball Theatre Organ, circa 1924—one of only a few of its kind in the world. Other highlights included a trip into the past for Grades 1 and 2s, where students were stunned to discover a world sans cell phones, and a “Lovebird Parrot Presentation,” courtesy of Richmond Childcare.
