April at Brentwood Elementary School

By Devina Sharma, Brentwood School Council Member

Easter and Spring greetings from the staff and students of Brentwood School! We will return from a restful Spring Break on Tuesday, April 3rd and look forward to a busy month of learning!

As part of the Brentwood Indigenous Strategy and Understanding Reconciliation, our school will be planning a variety of activities and presentations to help our students better understand the history of Indigenous People and to help foster growth towards the future. One such presentation will take place on April 5th, when the students will experience a First Nations Dance at our school.

Our next Parent Council meeting will be on April 10th at 7pm, and students will enjoy a Fun Lunch on April 12th.

Our students from Grades 1 to 3 will begin swimming lessons on April 18th, so please be aware that large groups of students will be walking to and from the Sir Winston Churchill Pool during school hours. Let’s help keep everyone safe in our community by adhering to the posted playground zone speeds along Northmount Drive, especially during school hours. Thank you!

Our Grade 3 students will be going to the National Music Centre as part of their science curriculum on April 16th and 17th. From April 16th to 26th, our Grade 4 and 5 students will be learning about Lacrosse in their Physical Education classes.
