North Haven President’s Message

April at last! After the winter we’ve had I’m sure we are all looking forward to warmer weather and those first green shoots heralding Spring.

I write this in March on a very snowy weekend having just attended the Federation of Calgary Communities Faces of Community event where our very own Elise Konoff was honored as one of 12 featured volunteers. Look for her picture on various media around the city and be sure to congratulate her when you see her in the neighbourhood.

Elise is one of North Haven Board’s enthusiastic volunteers. currently serving as Entertainment Director. She is looking to form an Entertainment Committee, to help her put on and even greater variety of events. Let us know what events you would like to see take place in our community and help us make them happen North Haven is very lucky to have a cadre of dedicated volunteers, but we are always looking for more.

Please consider helping out at just one event—you will meet new people, have a great time and make your community a better place. Volunteering can turn your house from a place you live into your home in a friendly neighbourhood by linking you to a greater circle of people. Volunteering with NHCA introduces you to new people from different generations, to the history of your community and gives a sense of ownership. When you know people down the street, four blocks away and the other end of North Haven you almost can’t go for a walk without running into a friendly face and a chance to stop and say hello. What a wonderful feeling.

Come out to a meeting, say hi to your Board, and give yourself a chance to make some great memories while keeping our neighbourhood the best in the City.

Jean
