Renfrew Message from the Board

Welcome to Spring…we hope! Having survived a winter with inordinate amounts of snow, it’s time to come out of our cocoons, reconnect with our neighbours and enjoy spring! Speaking of reconnecting, the RCA Annual General Meeting will be taking place on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 7 pm at the Hall. You must have a membership valid for at least 30 days to be able to vote at the AGM and there will be a few items on the agenda that require voting. We have updated By-laws which will be presented for approval by the membership and associated resolutions. If you haven’t yet had a chance to review and comment on those By-laws, now is the time. Email contact@renfrewyyc.ca for a current draft.

There will of course also be elections at the AGM (all positions are up for election except Secretary). Several current Directors are intending on continuing in their current roles and we are also re-defining some of the Director positions to more align with the way the Board has been working this past year. Do you want to become more involved with the Community Association, but you’re not sure where you might fit or whether you want to become involved as a volunteer, part of a committee or a Director? Now is the time to speak with a Board Director to understand what is expected and required at each level of involvement. Feel free to email Mikki at president@renfrewyyc.ca; speak with any Director; or come to our last Open House before the AGM on Tuesday, April 24 at 7 pm. We would be happy to chat, so you can decide where you might fit in!

And speaking of Director positions, we are actively seeking a Treasurer for the next term. Are you interested or know of someone within the community who would be perfect for this position and the responsibility that comes with it? Please let us know!

Finally, February and March were busy months for the Board with some very exciting documents materializing. We have an improved Financial Management Plan, our 2018 to 2020 Business Plan is in place, and, probably giving the most satisfaction to the entire Board, the 2018-2019 Budget passed in principle. All these milestones, along with the new By-laws, will help guide the direction of the Board for the next couple years and we are all very excited to have been a part of these projects!

As always, make sure to keep an eye on the website, Facebook and Twitter for the latest information on what’s going on at the Hall and in our community.
